Well well.. finally we're back after a long absence. The 4-0 demolition of us in the previous game was still not forgotten. A win was needed to boost the low morale of the team, and YES, we won.
It was a pretty gloomy mornin as many areas of singapore were experiencin rain, but nonetheless, the game against soonheng's friends still continue. The venue for the game was at a public field in amk. Yes, i can say, i think its the worst field that we played in since the formation of the team.
The captain of the team was experiencin a terrible time becos many players pulled out at the 11th hour, for those we pulled out last min, and if u're readin the blog. PLS NEXT TIME, IF U'RE NOT PLAYIN, TELL ME EARLIER, DUN MAKE ME WAIT LIKE A FOOL. IM LIVID, YES I AM.
In the end, we played with 10 men. The oppo.team also played with 10 men as some of their players did not arrive on time. The team was shocked when we saw the waterlogged pitch we were playin in. The field was really in an unsuitable playin condition; eg: the ball gets stuck at the puddle, and no matter how hard u kick it, it just moves a bit.
Ok, now the match. KFC started the game at a reasonable note. We pressed the oppo.team and the resistance was finally broken when #19 Justin score with a close range finish. The goal definitely lifted the team up, but not for long. The oppo.team started pressurin us, and on some occasions, our defence were scramblin to clear the ball.
Finally, the oppo.team broke our resistance by scorin a tap-in after our keeper of the day ozy fumbled a cross. That definitely lowered our morale a lil. It was exceptionally tough for the right flank to attack as the right side of the pitch was in a very bad condition. Water puddles were everywhere and it was almost impossible to dribble, therefore, the attack was mostly from the centre and left side. The combination of justin, le and yx were reasonably good. A few mins later, our nightmare happened, due to a defensive mix-up. The oppo.team scored via a simple close range finish. At that point of time, the team was really feelin the pressure, as this was a game they needed to win. After that goal, it was pretty 50-50. Then at virtually the last kick of the first half, #8 weiquan came out with a goal from no where. A nice layoff from #11 lee yue xin aka the ACEKILLER set off weiquan with a half-shot and cross. Ladyluck was on his side as the ball skided on the ground and the oppo keeper couldnt handle it, in the end he pushed it towards his own goal.
2-2 First Half
Durin the half time break, we told ourselves this was a game we can win, and we had to work for the win. Second half started on a pretty good note as KFC kept attackin, the oppo.team didnt have much chances of attackin becos of our #15 bryantan holdin the midfield and stoppin the flow of play. A few mins into the second half, KFC had a corner. Justin curled the ball into the far post and #8 weiquan was there at the right time to place the header to the bottom right hand corner of the post. 3-2 we led and the morale of the team was increasin, slowly but surely.
KFC kept attackin and our left midfielder weixiong scored with a very nice finish outside the penalty box. Good work from bryan tan by findin the unmarked weixiong and weixiong took his time to find his desired spot. 4-2 and the team just kept gettin better. There was pretty neat and tidy exchanges between the ACEKILLER yuexin, justin, weixiong and lele. Even our new rightback demetrius tan pushed forward to assist the attack. Soon, our rightmid lele scored a beauty outside the penalty box right to the top right corner of the post. After that, he cramped -.-. He played a while more and he subbed out, therefore KFC had only 9 men on the pitch, but that didnt affect our performance. Our centrebacks weiyu and alfred did a superb job by holdin the defence line and not allow much balls to pass by them. The defence worked together superbly. But a lapse of concentration cost KFC another goal as the oppo striker scored another close range finish. I think he scored a hattrick btw. The captain of KFC kept tellin his teammates to concentrate, as we cant afford to have a repeat of the mistake. KFC attacked again on the left flank, there was good play between justin and weixiong. Weixiong finally got a shot at goal, but it was a handball by the oppo in their area. PENALTY! As our keeper of the day ozy was hungry for a goal, our actual spotkick taker justin chang gave the honour to ozy. Ozy stepped up and scored the penalty. 6-3, the game was endin soon and yes we could pretty much relax. The oppo team kept pressin in the dyin mins of the game, but the defence was able to hold well.
FINAL SCORE : 6-3
