Team Dynamo 0-4 Team Devine( this name is just for brian)
11am, some of the members of team devine met at bukit batok interchange. Several other members were at different stations, and so we met each other on the way. It was a pretty long journey, but it was accompanied by joy and laughter,especially with brian heng with us.
The entire team gathered at boonkeng mrt for our match against team dynamo. It was a long walk from the mrt station to the field. On the way, we had some tactical discussions and thankfully we came to a conclusion.
The starting 11 against team dynamo : ozy,alfred,weiyu,weiquan,vu,nicky,jason,bryan,justin,weeteck,lele.
The day turned worse when it started to pour. We rushed into st wilfrid's sports complex and team dynamo was already there gettin ready. Luckily for us, the rain started to die down but nonetheless, the artificial field was still soaked. Everybody wore their gear and prepared for battle. At that moment of time, we still did not have our full squad. Alfone and joseph were on their way to the complex so we had to start the game without them. We tested our standby goalkeeper, ozy, a few times. He proved to be a solid goalkeeper and so the defence felt confident.
We waited for the ref to arrive and the game started. Our midfield and forwards were really good in the startin periods of the game. They controlled the game really well, and so the defence was spared. Our fullbacks, vu and alfred were playin a very good game. They supported the attack and defended well. Justin Chang proved to be the key player in the team by scorin the first goal. His freekick was nearly flawless and he guided it to the top corner of the goal. It was a beauty, and the defence were in awe as we saw it go straight into the net. That started the ball rollin as justin scored his second of the day with a shot outside the penalty box.
The confidence of the team had risen tremendously. Bryan was a rock in midfield as he intercepted all the balls that were goin to team dynamo. To me, it was his best performance so far. Our team had quite a few half chances that we really should have scored.
Finally, joseph and alfone had arrived. Alfone immediately told joseph to warm up as he'll be participating in the match very soon. Once joe was ready, lele went out and joe came in. Joe was pretty composed and our team kept attackin, hopin for a third goal. The third goal came late in the first half, joe did well to get past his defender and managed to squeeze in a shot. Dynamo's goalkeeper did well to stop it, but the ball came in the path of lele, who calmly slot it into the net. 3-0. We had some defensive slip ups at the back, but it was the defence's coordination that saved the situation. Joe also had a freekick which was brilliantly saved by the dynamo goalkeeper. First half ended at a score of 3-0.
The team took a rest while me and alfone discussed about the second half tactics.
Second half started with ozy and joe the strikers, lele bryan yx and alf in midfield and the same defence. Yx was havin a great game as he fought for every ball, and his pace was somethin to be reckoned with. Second half in general was pretty sloppy, for the defence as dynamo attacked more. But the combination of yx and bryan in midfield had stopped dynamo's flow of play. Every guy in defence did their part. It was rainin cats and dogs and it was pretty difficult to run in such heavy rain, but we still kept goin. BRIAN HENG CAME IN and everybody cheered. This match is a testimonial match for brian. Brian enjoyed the game and felt it was FUN! Brian did well by passin the ball with composure. The team continued to attack and a fourth goal was forced in by joseph. There was a mix up in dynamo's defence and joe pounced on it. Credit to him. Dynamo had a great chance of scorin a goal when a defensive slipup from us led to a 1v1 situation. Our then goalkeeper weeteck did well to narrow the angle and the striker shot it wide. This sums up their game i guess.
The final whistle was blown and everyone in team devine were jubilated. Especially brian, as this was his first field match and it ended up in a victory.
